Social Media Intern

Hello everyone!

My name is Katie Ternik, I am 20 years old, and I am the Outreach Coordinator and Social Media Marketing Intern for Anne Cate this summer! I have a passion for art, photography, and social media and cannot wait to create content for you all these next couple months.

Originally, I am from Fishers, IN, a suburb about 15 minutes northeast of Indianapolis. Being born and raised in the area I am proud to say I am a true hoosier and will always consider it home. I realized I wanted to go into Fashion my sophomore year of high school. I was enrolled in an Apparel and Textile class and discovered an interest in clothing and business. I put my two passions and discovered that Fashion Merchandising was the perfect career path for me! Although I loved Indiana, I decided to move away for college to pursue my dream and expand my horizons. From there, I ended up at Kent State University, which is one of the best schools for degrees in Fashion Design and Merchandising.

By far, the best two years of my life have been those spent in Kent. They have already taken me abroad to Berlin, Munich, and New York City and brought me opportunities I never imagined I would have. And this is only the beginning! Following this summer, I will be jetting off to Florence, Italy for the entire fall semester to live out my Lizzie McGuire Movie dreams and continue my studies.

In addition to studying Fashion Merchandising, I have three minors in Ceramics, Marketing, and Fashion Media. I am currently serving as Vice President of Fashion Students Organization, the largest fashion organization on Kent’s campus. With over 200 members, we host fashion design and styling competitions as well as focus on professional development.

Outside of school I binge watch netflix, work on my ceramics, and drink coffee by the gallon. I love to explore all areas of the beautiful world we live in. My favorite place to wander is Chicago. I have two older siblings in the area and love that such a big city can feel so much like home. One day I would love to live there, but I am open to anywhere this crazy industry may take me!

That’s all for now, but make sure to check back as I introduce my fellow interns Clare and Mattney!
